Opinion On “Review & Outlook: Perry, Romney and Social Security”
Mr Romney illustrates why he will katy perry no makeupt and ought not get the nomination. He is dishonest and feckless. The only distinction between SS and a Ponzi scheme is in its origin when it was not intended to be run as an insolvent fund to be used as a political football. Since then, it can no longer be defended on the basis that it developed into a program based on negligent misrepresentations. It has become an intended, knowing, fraudulently run scheme. In a Ponzi scheme the funds do not exist to meet the promised expectations of the investors. Social Security does not bother with promises. The incomes of the retired will be what the Congress says they will be when paid. It would not be contrary to the law for Congress to pay pro rata benefits from the stream of payroll taxes; or, even abrogate benefits entirely for some class and disproportionately pay another-as an abrogation is now proposed. A Ponzi scheme, as illustrated by Madoff’s, on collapse would have some assets, existing or recoverable, to distribute to defrauded investors. There are none and will be none under Social Security as currently conceived. To call it criminal is a euphemism unless accompanied by the terms mass and heinous given the great pain it tempts and inflicts. Mr Romney does surprise; he hasn’t the insight to see that between the dishonest knave we have and one we don’t know we might choose Mr Obama over him. I had found significant differences in my own views and those of Mr Romney but could happilty have accepted him. No longer. It is not surprising the other great white, noodle, hope of the Party-Mr Pawlenty has joined his incoherent inconsistencies to those of Mr Romney. That Mr Perry leapt to his lead. It was an example of the mass integration of group knowledge and intelligence and intuition. Mr Romney has done one service; he has removed any confusion over his Massachusetts care program. Whatever he might now say it is of no interest.
