Tracatak
took up spinning at the early age of 15. He started
out as a hip hop DJ playing at local teen clubs. He
was the typical hip hop scratch DJ, which is where his
DJ name came from – “to attack the tracks.” He did
this for a few years until he was old enough to go to
night clubs. This is where he discovered electronic
music which opened his eyes to a whole new world of
dance music. He was instantly inspired by the dance
floor grooves and the mixing style of the progressive
house DJs. But it wasn’t until he stumbled across some
hardcore techno records at a local record store that
he realized what he wanted to pursue. After hearing
this new sound he was immediately hooked and this
changed his whole focus as a DJ.
Over the years Tracatak’s sound has gone through many
phases. His first love of hardcore was newstyle
hardcore, but as time went on and he refined his
style, he found himself being drawn to the darker
hardcore styles. His love of zombies and monsters kept
him interested in the darkcore and doomcore records
coming out. During that time he also began delving
into producing. It was at that point that he decided
to move to NYC to team up with Jen Mas of Vitus
Productions.
As time went on, Tracatak was fueled to continue
creating new sounds of his own. He became more
enamored with slower techier hardcore tracks and spent
extensive time trying to emulate those sounds in his
studio. It was then that he discovered the techno
subgenre schranz. He felt that form of hard techno
went hand-in-hand with the hardcore he was producing
and from that point forward he found himself creating
music that was a cross between the two styles.
Currently
his sound contains elements of hardcore, techno, and
industrial. And when he's on the decks he'll either
drop a high energy techno or schranz set, or a
darkcore and doomcore set, and sometimes a bit of
both! He likes to play for the crowd, and will either
spin to get the dance floor grooving, or drop tracks
that will satisfy even the most elitist hardcore
enthusiasts. Either way he's got a style of his own
and he aims to please across a broad spectrum
audience. So be on the lookout for the future
sounds of Tracatak (also known as the “Doom Raider")
either from the Industrial Strength label or right
here from us at Vitus!
